We Shall Overcome

We shall overcome, We shall overcome
We shall overcome some day!
O! deep in my heart, I do believe that
We shall overcome some day!

We walk hand in hand, We’ll walk hand in hand
We’ll walk hand in hand some day!
O! deep in my heart, I do believe that
We shall overcome some day!

We shall live in peace, We shall live in peace
We shall live in peace some day!
O! deep in my heart, I do believe that
We shall overcome some day!

The truth will make us free, The truth will make us free,
The truth will make us free some day,
O! deep in my heart, I do believe that
We shall overcome some day!

We are not afraid, we are not afraid,
We are not afraid, today.
O! deep in my heart, I do believe that
We shall overcome some day!

Black and white together, Black and white together
Black and white together now.
O! deep in my heart, I do believe that
We shall overcome some day!

– Martin Luther King Jr.

  1. Reading this, I traveled 27 years back to my college days when in NSS camps I, being a leader, had to sing this song at every gathering. I also used to sing
